This was the follow-up to For My Man and the showrunners wanted to do something different. Give it a different feel.
I was listening to a random playlist on Spotify and this song came on I'd never heard before called, "I'm Your Puppet" by James and Bobby Purify (1966) and it was like a divine being had gifted me the answers to all my problems.
I mocked up some plates in Photoshop of a man who looked like he was doing chores around the house (or cleaning a crime scene), threw them in After Effects and rendered out a few pre-vis motion boards with I'm Your Puppet as a temp track and walked into the producers office with my laptop and said, "thoughts?"

The pitch was an instant success and we immediately began production. And while we couldn't get the rights to the song, the rest of the original pitch made the final cut.
